Most things are twice as good as a ford.

Thanks for the heads up. Should I ever find that P---------h appears on the road signs I shall be on my guard with acrawny hand clutched over my cheque book. I cannot sensibly comment ref distributors and their locations or numbers but I will say this, you never know who's watching, listening etc. Be carefukl!

Pay no attention to Tony D. (AKA Alan Partridge) due to his affliction for Lexus engines.

A'haa.

"Crendon Curry" - hehe- did someone call?

Welcome Mac. You need to decide just what you want from your Cobra - is it authenticity, speed, bling etc. All of these and far more can be catered for within the range of UK kit manufacturers.

Also, if it is not too private to you, knowing your budget will help us point you in the right direction. As you probably already realise, there are kits at differing price points, and something of a pecking order to go along with that, culminating in full-on aluminium bodied replicas with "original" engines at £65k+. I have also seen very well put together cars for under a quarter of that. The quality of build can transcend the cars' origins in some cases.

Ignore the AK mafia , especially the ones currently suffering from the sleep deprivation exercise known as "breeding" - there are lots of other choices. I am in the Rothely/Mountsorrel area - same general area as Tinka, if you ever want to pop down for a general chat about the "scene" whilst poking around my own car you are welcome. These days I have learned not to be partisan, although of course the Crendon is best.

The only thing I would counsel against initially is to rush off and buy a pre-built car from a dealer - too much margin for them! Otherwise, there is no objectively right or wrong thing to do, it is a very subjective matter.

Hello Wilf

Thanks for the reply and the invitation. Right now I'm in look, listen, read and learn mode. The main aim is to enjot the build and then the driving if fuel costs allow the latter. I certainly can't afford £65k's worth of authenticity but perhaps I can stretch to a third of that.

Regards
Mac

Hi Mac,

Welcome to the forum,

I'm with Wilf on this one and I'm not going to join in the usual bun fight but 20 odd K will allow you to build any one of a number of kits. Take you time in choosing and enjoy yourself!

(By the way sorted out Sumo's are the best! They annoy people who've spent far more on their cars. However they all can laugh at sumo owners when we are trying to buy parts from Pilgrim )

Regards,

Pete

Pete Hello,
Thanks for the post. The finance is coming from some maturing policies in about a year. I have therefore lots of time to gather information and make decisions in any event I would have avoided rushing in anyway.

Regards
Mac
