Felicitations

Hello
Greetings and all that stuff. I'm a prospective builder /owner, oh all right, a wannabee! As a retired and bored happily divorced owner of a diminishing bank account I need a project. (Since retirement I've done most of those jobs that will get done when I have time and have naturally ignored those that will never get done due to an intense lack of interest.) A project to re-live my mispent youth would be good, though one that will exceed it will be better (especially as I can't remember her name). Hence my post on this site. Over the years I have accumulated a big box of tools and need to find out what they do! So I intend to haunt this site and note all the sage advice from you Cobra gurus until in a moment of madness, I commit the bank account residue to a particular kit, the maker of which will be decided from your collective posts.

Hello Mac and welcome to the club.First off where abouts are you based You will find all the information you could ever want on here and some of it is even correct . Good luck on your decision of which kit to get, you will find we are all very bios to the one we own ourselves, best advice I would give you is work out your budget, what you want the car for, go and visit as many suppliers as you can & for goodness sake get a Ford not an anchor with the distributor at the wrong end

Good luck

Oh good, Fresh meat.............

Welcome to the madhouse and home to the mother of all wallet reducing hobbies.

Take a few daysto conduct a search on the forums regarding choice of kit. Everyone here has his favourite and can, if given even the slightest encouragement, bore you absolutely senseless with the particular benefits of the kit he purchased when he was in your position.

Go and see the manufacturers and get to as many meets as possible and blag as many rides as possible in different marques to help formulate your opinions.

Then wring out the wallet and have some fun...........

Cheers,

Tony

Welcome Mac

Cobra ownership will certainly help to diminish your Bank account even further, but what the hell, you can't take it with you.

Anyway back to the particular kit to buy, it's got to be an AK

Sit back and wait for the incoming flack.

Thanks for the gen, I'm in Newark'ish so at least in the same bit of the UK as you, I would never guess that folks would be partisan about their Cobra engine/suppliers

Thanks for the information, aren't you just a bit biased? I'm sure from your caution that an interesting set of replies will be forthcoming.

Hi Mac I run the East Midlands Meet, if you want to get a copy of the monthly news letter with all the details of what is going on, send me a PM (private Message) with your Email address and I will send you a copy. Be good to meet a new face and you will be able to pick the brains of quite a lot of people who own different makes to get a good variety of opinions on different models.

Mac,

The innocence of a Forum newbie is heartening to see.

Between Mike, Tinka and myself we have ( or have had) 5 AKs between us so we are just lulling you into a false sense of security re our partisan approach.

Once in the East Midlands web Tinka normally administers the coup de grace and you find yourself in Peterborough, ordering an AK with Tinka patting you on the back uttering his famous phrase "Good Choice"........ I believe Rohipnol may be involved but this has yet to be proven. The only antidote is what is commonly known as a "Crendon Curry" which has been known to make grown men cry, much like the fuel consumption of a Cobra at full chat..........

Unfortunately I took Tinka's entreaty to heart re the distributor at the front of the engine and I now have an engine with two distributors at the front end. Does this make it twice as good as a Ford?

Cheers,

Tony
