I've learned when a parcel full of shiny bits arrive, under no circumstances rip it open and run to the garage to see what it looks like when held in place.

Always always always remove the reciept from the box first and take it to receipt hiding place (deep in the garage for me). That way when questioned you can calmly say, oh that little old thing, had it for ages, cost about 30 quid. Whats good for dresses and shoes is good for cylinder heads in my book!
