Hi guys, another noob on the block.

Hi, great forum, nice to be here.

Just got permission at last from my other half to get myself a kit and am so far leaning heavily towards the Dax.

I am by no means a mechanic but have done quite few bits on cars of the years and am not afraid of having a go.

Looking forward to getting to know you all, and meeting at events etc, although it will be sometime before i have one on the road. I have never driven one and not been to the factories yet, that is to come.

Am willing to come and give anybody a hand with a build from time to time if you need that extra pair of hands etc, so long as you are not too far away. I live in Warsash in Hampshire.

Thanks, see you around..

Nige

Hi Nige, and a warm welcome.
First off where are you it would help if add that to your profile.
As many others will say it depends on your time scale, requirements and budget as to what you build. My Dax cost me circa £30K to build. Self built but buying a large proportion of the bits from Dax.
There again Crendon a fine machine may well cost a fair bit more but for a very original style Cobra.
Sumo maybe £15K for a nice one.
GD similar to Dax price wise and AK not much different these days, I've seen superb examples of all.
Just watch some one have a go at me for something now. (all part of the forum banter).

Hello and welcome to the Club, Have a good trawl through the forum and before you order any kit make sure you visit the different factories. You will then have a good chance to compare the kits and the companies as don’t forget you will be dealing with the company for several years whilst you are building. Also get along to the local meet and then you can see and have a chat with others who have gone through what you are about to start.

Nige welcome to the mad house.
Best decision you have made mate, and the 'other half' is in agreement so even better, keep her involved as much as possible it will pay dividends in the long run and save you a packet when it conmes to earning 'brownie points'.
Its not unknown to have to fit new kitchens, bathrooms not forgetting the endless supply of shoes and handbags, just to buy a few hours in the garage or a couple of hours to have a run out with your mates !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half the fun of these cars is looking for what is right for you and then either building or buying what you want.
Dont rush take your time and try as many as you can, visit all your shortlist and talk to us on here about your choices, somewhere someone will have been there done it and got the tee shirt and will give you largely unbiased advise.

Good luck

Hi Nige,
Welcome to the club (or madhouse!). When you go to Dax for a drive you will have one of two experiences depending on who takes you for a drive. If its Gary you will have an "out of body " experience" as he will show you exactly what the car is capable of at its extreme limits ( Gary was asked to take me out because of my intended use of the car). You will experience pin sharp turning at speed. When you land back at the factory your wallet will be out in flash. Believe me its handling will sell you on it. By the way in the showroom at the moment is a 2nd hand one for sale. If you have a test drive with any one else it is going to be quite a bit more sedate.

welcome and enjoy

Andy

My Crendon will cost under £30K on the road + paint & if you went for a stock FE engine it could be done for £30K including paint.

Cheers Tony.

The cost is largely down to how much of the work you do you’re self and where you get your bits from. My AK was built for about £22,000 before paint and all the rest of the stuff I have done to it since.
