Sean,

welcome to the site. Remember your car when built will need to have an IVA test and the Factory Five is an American kit. You would be better going for one of the UK kits, which know all about this test and their kits are engineered for that fact.

Welcome Sean.

Good advice above, and I would add that the exchange rate isn't too friendly just now either.

Hi Sean,

Welcome!

As already stated, get to Stoneleigh as most of the manufacturers will be there and also there should be loads of home built cobras to drool over.

All the best with your choice!

have a look on the right hand side of the homepage and you'll see info on dates and whereabouts of local meets. Make sure you blag some free rides! Stoneleigh is a no brainer if you have the time free as its easily the biggest show of the year.

I'd second the general consensus that a UK built car will be more practical to get through IVA. That's not to say a US car can't, but you may end up modifying things with much less factory support and bearing in mind what you say about your limited experience of kitcars to date, perhaps thats not the best route.

Is there something that particularly attracted you to Factory Five? It may be that it is a feature that is present on one of the UK kits that we can point you towards?

welcome to the place and best of luck with the build

thanks all for your welcome and advice, have just spoke with a pal of mine and we are going to stoneleigh on sunday the 2nd may, so we're looking forward to that. what drew me to the factory five (which is hunter murrel motorsport) is the fact that it is practicly the whole kit where as some of the others (uk based) utilize donor cars. as ive said, never done anything like this but am pretty good at putting and following instructions and putting me heart into something i set my sight on. to be stripping down bits from else where would go way over me head, however, the only downside is all but one of the kits ive come across are glassfibre-laminate. to me this isnt about a car to be road worthy, but a car to be able to take to a show and get the WoW factor. to fund this project i'm selling my 2 yr old Audi S4 V8 which is my pride and joy, but to build a Cobra will be a challenge in itself i understand that, thats why me friend advised to come on here and sought any advice i may need, even though he is into his cars (he has a porche 924 with a small block chevy)he has no experience with the cobra
