Another Newbie

Hi Folks,

Just like Mr William I am hoping to throw myself into the wonerful world of Cobra ownership at a moderate price (c£15k), probably a Sumo with the Rover 3.5 V8. I need to buy a finished motor as I am hoping to drive said vehicle down to Epernay in France for the end of May Bank Holiday. It looks like many of the Cobs I've been looking at are low mileage. I appreciate they weren't built as Grand Tourers, but am I completely insane to be considering a 400 mile straight drive? Also grateful for any steers on things to avoid.

Will try to drop into Stoneleigh as my parents-in-law are not far away and Mrs Snorkel is keen to see the cars up close and personal.

Looking forward to the experience.

Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,

You should look at the motors that JRV8 supplies, in my humble they seem like good value for money.

Pete, I think he means finished cars not just an engine.

Ronnie, my sumo is for sale and has done over 400 mile single trips before so it is possible, slightly higher budget than what you have but much better engine than a 3.5. I'll be at Stoneleigh tomorrow if you want a chat, look round a car or any advice, ask after me I'm quite well known
