Thumbs up New to the Cobra Scene

Hi All

I have always admired the Cobra and will be purchasing a replica shortly - my big question to all of you is WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND (apart from an orginal of course).

I would really appreciate any help you could give, including where to buy from, engine size, what to look for and avoid, how much I should be looking to pay, etc.

Many thanks in anticipation

Craig

Craig - there simply is no single answer to your question I am afraid.

Tell us what you want from the car - bling/original looks/trackday weapon/drag monster/cruiser etc., and most importantly, your budget, and then an owner from pretty much all the marques available will proceed to tell you why theirs is the best.

As you can imagine, yours is a question which crops up here regularly - the search function is your friend.

Hi Craig the questions you ask can not be answered without a lot more information.

1 What's your budget

2 What do you want to do with the car (cruising, track days, long distance touring

3 What engine Rover V8 or Yank

4 Bling or originality

5 Price, all depends on the spec and how well you can haggle

Have a look on Piston Heads website (kit Car section then select Cobras about 70 for sale all sorts, last time I looked, trade and private sales

If you do see one you think fits the bill post up the link and there ars many good guys one here that will tell you if it's a right un or a wrong un

Kind regards Lester

As the guys said its a regular question and there is no simple answer, the main thing is to take a good amount of time and gather as much info as you can.

Are you buying a kit or a built car, if buying a build one you really should meet owners if any in your area and if possible take someone along with you when going to see a car. As most cars are home built you also have to contend with the builders ability.

Welcome Craig.

Mine's been up for sale. At the moment it's having a clutch servo assist fitted so is not available but could be to the right owner

The old ad is on the car and classic web site. Cobra replica For Sale (2008 ) on Car And Classic UK

Andi.

Thanks for the advice

Thank you very much for the advice, its much appreciated.

I am after more of an original and I think the Rover V8 is a great engine, but not true to the original Cobra (a big yank V8 is more in keeping with the marque I think).

My budget is around £22k - is this enough or shall I sell a kidney to fund a better one?!!

It will be purely a fair weekend cruising machine, something to put a smile on my face when I push the loud pedal.

andicole0 - Andy, your Cobra looks absolutely stunning but a few grand above my budget, otherwise I would be takin a journey to see it.

IS there anything resembling a regional Cobra club? I am in South Yorkshire and would love to have a chat with local owners.

Many thanks

Craig

Yes indeed, there is a meeting next sunday - The Northern Region meet on the 2nd Sunday of each month at:-
The Clough House Inn, 129 Clough Lane Rastrick HD6 3QL Tel 01484 512120 01484 512120.
Leave the M62 at junction 24 follow Huddersfield to the next big roundabout then take the 3rd exit (Brighouse) to the next traffic lights, turn right and The Clough House Inn is on the left hand side in a few hundred yards.
We usually arrive at around 12.30pm.

Come along if you can & talk to the owners about the various marks, I'm sure you'll go away with plenty of info to start you on your quest!

Steve
