| Got the bug ! Hi, Finished a house extension and now looking to invest in a new toy. I have had 4 TVR's in the past and was looking to go down that route again but 'been their done that' scenario kept in my mind. Started looking at the Cobra's and very impressed with what is available. Looked at the AK, and Dax tomorrow. Jag based with a turn-key 6.3 chevy block 400 bhp (LS3 does not look 'old school' enough) is looking very good at the moment. Also taking a bit of the fun away will be looking to have a rolling chassis built by supplier. Is this a good route to go ? It will be a bit of a garage queen but will be driven, maybe a track day or two when complete Jon |

| Welcome along There are many paths that lead to different locations within the realm of Cobradom... Some are more traditional, others less so. Have a real good look around the market to decide what you feel is best - AK, Crendon, Dax, GD, etc... If you're in Wales, let me know and I'll take you for a drive to increase your desire for some Yank V8 fun. Cheers, Jason.

| Well, went to Dax today, and again a very nice, helpfull bunch of people. Got taken out in their 502 for a quick blast and ....... holy sh#t that has some torque. Does a 1.6 OHC ford engine fit in these Cobra's !! My process in getting a Cobra will be first to purchase the rolling chassis complete and body. Fit the body and I get on with the rest of the build. The engine will probably be close to last for me, once I have saved that bulk of money. I want to go down the jag gear route personally and the initial cost seems very good for the DAX for the rolling chassis and body . Any pointers at this stage would be good before I part with my cash. I am visiting Gardener Douglas next week for the same process. Any other kits I should look at ?? Which kit is better/user freindly ?? |

| What your doing, going around the different makers is the best thing you can do. It's hard for owners who built their cars to point you one way or another as they choose different kits. I can only tell you why I picked mine and some others can tell you why they choose theirs. The GD body is prob the best out their you can actually buff the Gell coat up to a standard that looks like a pro paint job, saves loads on a spray job at the start. The roll bars on the GD are not for show they are full blown Roll bars It's the only kit you can remove the body in a hour. They now have a fold down roof that can stay on the car on a rain on rain of day. If your into touring dont discount the LS engines, 28 MPG with a light foot is normal. GD's built well have a very high resale value, GD stock just about every part you need to buy for your car, and will sell you a little or a lot, just whatever you need. I think Dax sell stuff in modules from what i,m told. Whatever you decide, AK, Dax, GD, Crendon etc I'm sure with some good building skills you will enjoy the Cobra no matter what maker it is from, Everyone has that in common customer service with AK, Dax, Crendon, GD is all very good so no worries on any front there. You may have a slight difference in the chassis and Shell between makers BUT in the overall cost this is minor, To build a top flight car you will be around 30K plus, At the same time with second hand rover v8 engine and box also not going nuts on interior you could be on the road for 17 ish. It's all about what you put in. lol whatever you want to spend allow 50% more and you'll be close, when you build yours you remember this bit
