    re-introduction of noob

    Hello!

I joined the forum a fair few months ago and was duly welcomed and partook of some advice and initial help for which I am grateful.

Just wanted to reintroduce myself as my non-assembled rolling chassis appeared today (free afternoon off work on gran turismo 5 whilst waiting for delivery hehe) so my build has officially started.

Cup of tea in hand in my newly carpeted luxury garage, surveying the apparent wreckage of parts all over the place and its suddenly hit me what a huge commitment this is!

Looking forward to the coming months/years, if I become even half as knowledgeable as some of the people on here that will be reward enough. Hopefully I can help a few people along the way too. (Slave wheels up for grabs as soon as I'm done with them!)

    Hi Dave.
Just fire away with what you might think are silly questions, as I'm sure you will get plenty of silly answers.

Don't be overwhelmed by the size of the pile of parts, no matter how knowlegable you may or may not be you can still only tighten one bolt at a time, just like us Old Hats on here.

Hello Dave, yes it is a huge commitment, but it is one you will enjoy, if you listen to some advise, if you hit a problem, ask them questions, get that problem sorted before moving on!, and try to do at least one job per day, however small, best of luck with the build, Regards Col

    Hi Dave,

    Congrats on the arrival

Don't forget the build photos - something to remind yourself of what you went through once she's completed and on the road - and we also like pics on here

Plus, I understand you need the photos to show the nice man at IVA that you really did build it.

Everything unpacked, time for a tea break. The bike has a rather forlorn look about it, squashed up against the door, it probably suspects it's about to be sorn'd and relegated to the garden to make way for more shiny bits

    Hi Dave,

I'm no expert, but I think that your fitted carpet is supposed to be stretched across the floor and the other way up!!

Good luck with the build, sadly yet to get to that stage.

Ah, thats my draught excluder and leaf intrusion preventative device! There's a proper painted oil proof floor underneath so once ive ruined the carpet and the weather gets a bit warmer I'll go back to that.

A combination of build manual and jag haynes has allowed me to put names to most of the bits of metal on the floor but I'm steadily gearing up to the first of many stupid questions!

That mug of tea im holding is normal sized, im actually only 4ft tall.
