| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Mark, Your gonna spend a lot on insurance, but I guess you knew that, most charge on age and value (they don't care how big the engine is or how many HP - I kid you not). So if you can build frugally (not sure that's actually possible with Cobs) then you might stand a chance of driving it. £2K for the chassis - best working out how much your going to need to get from Chassis to Rolling Chassis, no point having a chassis and nothing to put on it. Total cost will run from £10K (diy re-con on all the bits) and not too much Bling, up to £40K for a fully loaded Dave B Dax, GD built GD etc with all the "right" bits. Cheers Jim PS Underslungs of course (spoken with experience......but not of sidepipes |

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world That's bad news -so much for the system of 'advance access' that's supposedly now used. It's all a question of planning really, getting rid of the backlog & keeping ahead of yourself so you can cope with the peaks of demand, & enjoy the troughs -instead of running around trying to catch your tail the whole time. Hope she got sorted & all is well now

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Unfortunately 5 hours isn't bad. I have worked in Stoke on Trent where all you needed was a proper prang on the M6 in the middle of the night and there would be a 12 hour wait for 'Minors' ( Minor injuries that is ) whilst you sorted them out. W-S-M where there is only one Dr overnight in A&E and a large proportion of mad holidaying Brummies swelling the number of inhabitants and injuring themselves or forgetting their medication ( Weston Super Mare is the first piece of sea off the M5 it seems so they all come 'and have been coming for generations I have you know!!!' ). As for dear old home - the Bristol Royal Infirmary - the inner city breeds nutters generally and even more on a full moon so the waitng room is full of them, people who are so pished they have fallen over and smashed their heads and lost consciousness so constitute a severe head injury so take priority, numerous RTAs with people wanting me to say they have 'whiplash' so they can finance this years holiday, interspersed with PROPER 'accidents and emergencies'( in which your mam would fall ). In retrospect the oldies were easy and mostly quite nice and the kids are easily sorted. But sometimes you get fed up with the minority thinking you are doing the best part of sweet FA all night and voicing that opinion to us frontline plebs who are by this time ( 5 in the morning ), covered in nasty FLUIDS, starving and in urinary retention but still SMILING ( well trying )! Rant over. I love my job and MOST people appreciate everything that is done for them and they tell you and that is the best bit. I just had a bad experience with a retired Colonel type on a night from hell which has clouded my judgement. SORRY

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world This may not still be true but the insurance companies used to not let you duplicate your no claims bonus. That is, you can move it to another car but if you want to insure a second car you don't get the ncb because it is already in use. A right con but there you go, you just have to start a new policy with any introductory bonus they are prepared to give.

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Re no claims bonus, I drive more than one car and had to search quite a few companies until I found one that would allow me to keep my NCB on both cars, small local company came up trumps in the end :thumb: I never could understand how the NCB is related to the car and not the driver, you can only drive one at a time as far as I am aware ![]()

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Thanks for the input guys... I have pretty much narrowed my choice down to the Sumo or the Euro427. I will be visiting Pilgrim in 2 weeks time to see exactly what the Sumo is like. Once I decide on the kit its then just the wait for my garage to be built, should be doen bye end of october! Gives me extra time to save up more cash Thanks again guys! Mark |

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Dave, If i could finish it in the next week, without actually rushing anything, i would. However i'm at the mercy of various other factors, namely last weekend having to go to my nephews first birthday party, this weekend having to go to wedding in Harrogate, next weekend having to go sailing & fishing (well ok that's not really a hardship!) and not having the bits to get on with it.

| Re: Entering the replica cobra world Right, lets get things straight! Listen to the bloke who knows no about how or what, but why! Exhausts. sidepipes look great but burn and only offer you 4 cyl type sound.. :finger: so there! Insurance, dont worry about it.. A few things that I found out while mine was being done was that I incurred extra costs, not so much out of choice but they happened. Mine is less than 400 fully comp with the wife at 5000 mls per yr. Try and offer a bigger excess to see if that would bring it down. A garage also helps though we done have one. I dont know how handy you are but have you at all considered a yank V8? Pls do so, especially if you're handy with a spanner. ..oh and get a Dax. Good luck mate
