| Hello from France I am a lapsed member of the UK club, now living in France. Are there any other ex-pats out here with Cobra replicas? My Dax is here with me, and awaiting French registration (might be quite a wait). Anyone know how to do it? Or does anyone know how to get French insurance on a UK plate with a Controle Technique? I'm in Perigord (SW). Regards, Iain |

| Re: Hello from France Hi Iain, have no idea how you go about in France but I have registerd my UK built Cobra replica in bothe Germany and now in Japan. In both countries it was very important that the original donor date was recognised (1973 in my case) even though my car Unique Autocraft Python was properly registered in teh UK in 1998. I also used local specilists (at a price) who had experince in the local equivalents of the MOT/SVA regulations. Try to get in touch with an organisation who has expereince of importing cars to France. I doubt you will be able to get a UK insurance company to give you loing term cover in France. Itried the same initially in Germany but without success.

| Re: Hello from France Thanks Wilf, but if I could keep up British MOT and road tax, I wouldn't have a problem with insurance. The fact is that is the car now lives in France (with me) but to keep it MOT'd and taxed costs over a thousand quid each year to take it back, plus driving two journeys of 700 miles each way for no good reason. There are plenty of French insurance companies happy to cover British registered cars here, it's just that I haven't found one that recognises a Dax yet. Also, I can't not mention "Cobra" as it says that on the log book. I have seen French the odd French registered Cobra replica out here, so someone must know how to do it. |
