Newbie 1st post members advice req'd

Am determined to build my own cobra next year but need more guidance -having decided it has to have a V8 engine-just love that noise.

Originally thought I'd go for a Rover V8 as it is an all alloy engine & I thought that would help with weight distribution. Other people I talk to say the Chevy V8 gives more for your money.
So where does one go about getting a chevy engine -having it refurbished and then what sort of gearbox does that take?

Assuming that the engine & gearbox are overcome easily-whatabout the 'gearbox to propshaft to diff' setup?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Hoping to make the Exeter show having been to Stoneleigh & Donnington -all to try and bottom out which kit / maufacturer to go for - & still not made up my mind

Thank you

Hi Daddy

Come to Exeter, we the South West Region of the CRC will have a stand inside, come and have a chat, have a look at the cars on the stand, we will point you in the right direction.

We also have a supplier of reasonably priced well built Chevy Engines. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Lots of engine and gearbox suppliers around.

I got my engine mail order from EngineFactory.com in the states. Not driven it yet but it sounds just great. **Claimed** 400 bhp for £4.2k delivered all in.

TKO Gearbox/clutch/bellhousing package from Repower, £2.3k

Best to start saving now....

Hi Tone and welcome. :thumb:
where abouts in the country are you?
Get in touch with your local group if there is one, I'm sure you 'll get loads of free advice.
Do you know which kit you're going for yet?
As Mike said get yourself to Exeter , see you there maybe?

Re: Newbie 1st post members advice req'd

Hi all

Thanks for the welcoming replies. Hoping to get to Exeter its not far from Woking where I live.
It would be great to meet the group and get some pointers as to the way forward.

I haven't quite settled on what kit to buy but I was well impressed with the Euro 427 setup.
I was impressed with the new owner's attitude and willingness to answer all my inane questions plus insisting I got in the car and make myself at home.

Once again thanks for making me feel at home

Regards
