| Hello I have been looking around the site for a day or so now, and its great. The cobra is a car I have always liked the shape of and loved in general. I am only 17 but I can dream for a year or 2, my ultimate aim is to build a gt40 replica I love that car and will build one eventually, but I also want to get a good idea on the whole kit car building way of things. I am a qualified auto mechanic according the bit of paper in the drawer next to me, I just lack experience, but I like working on cars so the actually building wont put me off. I had intended to first build a 7 style car as my first kit, as they are simple, but I have gone of the idea as there are a lot of them and they always look home made and don’t like the shape that much. So no matter how nutty the idea is I have set my self on building a cobra replica as my first kit car, it would be built over 2 or 3 years but that’s good as it will mean I can take time building it and not spend all my money on it, from looking at the sites for the various kit cars I have decided that the most likely kit that I have set my self on building, is the kirkham replica although expensive I believe it will be worth the effort, and it will not loose me money if I sell it and its all metal so has a better "feel" to it. The other kit that I am thinking of is the GD kit that also seems to have a good feel to it and looks well designed and is a true replica. The dax does not really appeal to me atm and the pilgrim is out as I think they do not have faith in the kit so still half naked girls in the ads for it anybody wish to give me any information on anything i have said, or there views. sorry for all the rambleing |

| Re: Hello yeah, i know that i am expecting 2 much to get a kirkham one but once i started thinking about it, it got to much the kit i feel is the "one" is the gd kit and does seem posiable to build. only the gt40 betters the shape of the cobra |

| Re: Hello Hi I can only wish you the best of luck, I have been building mine for 18 months, although I can only put time in at weekends and evenings and possess no mechanical qualifications, so maybe you will beat me to the finish line. Kevin

| Re: Hello GT40's look good, don't try and go to Le-Mans with your camping gear, as there is just enough room for a bog roll and your toothbrush. P.S Welcome Jebus to the madhouse :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

| Re: Hello thats good enough then according to spec on a 427 orginal cobra that would do 15 mpg, wonder if i could stick a 427 in a gd chassis "manic evil laugh" |

Stick a big block in there and the weight distribution is all thrown to hell. If the 383 is still not enough, you could always stick a blower on it. ![]()

| Re: Hello yeah, i understand that and trying to get and look after a 427 is to hard on this country and would mean i couldnt use it as much. a 350 or a 383 chevy seems on the whole the best engine for the cobra, and 400bhp and a mountain of torque is easy possiable from them engines. dont want to start the chevy/ford engine debate. |
