Update, no the battery wasn't the problem as it's happened again this morning, quick call to the Honda dealers and the problem was identified. The buyer had put his Skoda Octavia key on the same key ring as the Honda key and the immobiliser chip in the Skoda key was effecting the Honda key
Might useful info if anybody's keys do the same thing.
