Re: Failing the SVA

Thanks Garry - It's really useful to see this sort of stuff - though I do wonder if your man was just a touch enthusiastic. Another thread has discussion about the reverse taper - apparently when quizzed Mr Senior SVA doesn't agree.

Re: Failing the SVA

Interesting point, apparently he is into kitcars also!!!! again I would consider the point about the radious on my seat belt anchor bracket a tad over zelous as it is a kitemarked component, lets face it in a crash I would not be bothered about a radius that falls 25mm out of the designated area causing me harm!!!!!

4) Wire propping open heater flap so no air coming through windscreen vents
5) Reverse taper on track rod end
6) Top ball joint nut not on 2 threads past nyloc
7) Brake pipe requiring one more clip above diff
1 HT lead too close to exhaust manifold
9) Wiring inside boot not secure enough
10) Wiring to front lights needs securing a bit more
11) Alternator charging wire not thick enough
12) Rear reflectors radius not 2.5mm
13) Hazard warning lights go off when main headlights are switched on
14) Another wire under the bonnet needs some more clipping
15) Speedo was inoperable, (sensor probs I think)
AND THE KILLER!!!!!!!!!
16) the seadbelt bracket, the bit that is actually part of the seatbelt and bolts to the top of the car under the roll bar does not have a 2.5mm radius on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and also the plactic cap that covers the bolt again radius problems!!!!!!!!
17) also on the subject of seatbelts, when fastened, they dont retract quick enough

I hope this list is of help to you guys, any questions dont hesitate in asking

Re: Failing the SVA

Garry
Quite a long list but most of them are fixable pretty quick.
Seat belt issue seems very harsh indeed (even to the point of if it was me I'd question it)
The one about the taper is also odd as mine and a lot of others have passed with no problem.
Maybe the tester was a tad over the top.
Good luck for the re-test
Gareth

Re: Failing the SVA

Hi Garry

Seems like someone nicked the rattle out of your tester's pram. A bit over the top by the looks of it. Jobsworth comes to mind.
Keep us posted.

Cheers

Phil

Re: Failing the SVA

There is a lot of truth in what Mark says....If a little over zealous.
Mark, you forgot the very first car we SVA'd when the SVA was first introduced.........Remember that Blue Sumo that we took to Manchester ?!!!!!!

Re: Failing the SVA

I was wondering - Robert or Tinka - if something like this could be pinned - a place where people could specifically put their fail lists to help others, or perhaps a specific forum sub section only for that subject. Reading the fail lists above certainly helps me an enormous amount.
