Washer jets and progress report

Chaps, just a quickie, little snaggy jobs only on the list now and have just come to fit the washer jet. Do you know if the double chrome washer jet supplied by Pilgrim and probably other kits is SVA compliant. Its Just the diameter hole required for this is smaller than the big plastic jobby that came with the washer bottle.

Therefore if I fit the big plastic one for SVA the hole will be to big to fit the nice shiny one after and I will be left with an abortion in the body work.

Any tips welcomed, also the thread doesnt look long enough on the chrome one to go through the thick fibreglass, any suggestions on holding it in as the nut probably wont catch

Progress is now narrowed down I have literally just finished the final dash configaration so all thats left is the silly little jobs such as securing wiring, fog light and wiper arms etc etc.

Not long now

Anthony

Re: Washer jets and progress report

Simple answer, if it presents an edge of less then 2.5?mm radius i'll need 'editing' to pass.

You may be able to add some sort of thick rubber washer around it to prevent mr SVA prodding it with his ball. It's either that or see if it can be filed/buggered/bodged to remove edges, then replaced with a new one post SVA.

Re: Washer jets and progress report

As for not enough thread could you carefully counterbore under neath the bonnet to allow the nut to catch?

Or use a press on fixing (E clip/star washer sort of thing?)

Or an adhesive?? (in the hole / under the bonnet?)

Re: Washer jets and progress report

Thought about adhesive so will experiment tomorrow with the clips suggested aswell.

I think you could be onto a winner with that to ADrian, bugger the first one up then replace with a new one once passed.

Thanks chaps

Re: Washer jets and progress report

I saw them on a stand at stoneleigh with a big label saying SVA comnpliant they are brushed aluminium and illuminate blue when features are on in my case heater, fog light and engine start.

They were £15 each so hope they are ok

Graham,
You can get these at Demon Tweeks but I think there was a thread some time ago about getting them from the suppliers direct.

Re: Washer jets and progress report

I had the same problem with no length of thread exposed under the fibre glass. All i done was wrapped some PTFE tape around the thread and gently screwed it into the hole. It hasn't moved once :thumb: and I now can't spray water at a Chav next to me sat at traffic lights hoping for a burn up in his 1.1 corsa. all the joys of passing an MOT.
