They'll be shut by now.....

In the pub perhaps with a pint staring at a sheet of 'dangerous' SVA fails. All those sharp edges!

Re: Less than 24 hours to SVA but have one last question

I can see that the suspense is killing you all so her goes. After getting absolutly soaked this morning on the way to the test it all started at 8.00 dead. Speedo was perfect only 2mph out so well in the allowances. Noise was just under with 1db to spare and all was looking great.

However like I expected it to it did indeed fail but only on four very minor things

1. End of rear nudge bar to sharp
2. No locking wire in rear brake caliper bolts
3. He pulled handbrake so hard the adjuster slipped and was now slack
4. Declared axle design weight wasnt high enough for calculated weight

I have now rectified all the above by moving the rera reflector, tightening handbrake again, wired the bolts and got a fax from pilgrim stating a higher front axle design weight. ITs booked for the retest at 3.00 tomorrow so this time tomorrow il have my MAC.

Just awaiting a DVLA inspection now and bobs your uncle all done.

Thanks for all your kind words and support, its great to see MIke T is back and it will be good to catch up with the illusive man himself.

Regarding the £25K build cost I think its fair to say my spec is alot higher than that of pilgrims, and all there build and design faults have been removed from my kit which themselves needed some financing

Re: Less than 24 hours to SVA but have one last question

See, not that bad at all

Strange you should mention nudge bars, I ground the ends and put a small radius on them, not that it's much use telling you now

Re: Less than 24 hours to SVA but have one last question

Thanks Gary I decided on moving the reflector and covering the sharp edge instead of grinding shiny expensive chrome.

I used taunton, the chap was very helpful, let me use the ramp to rectify some other minor defects and even gave me a push after the fans had drained the battery and it wouldnt re start.

Thank you all again for your support throughout my build

Anthony

Yes Good luck, :thumb: but as well as emptying your first tank of fuel can you take a moment out to keep us all informed.

Re: Less than 24 hours to SVA but have one last question

Well done. A few minor items easily fixed.

On the calipers bolts issue, I wired the bolts on the jag rear calipers on my first build, but on the next two I have used spring washers under the bolts as I was under the impression that as long as some type of locking or anti-vibration method was used the SVA engineer would be happy. Should I put in locking wire as a second failsafe method?

Cheers,

Tony

Tony

If the bolts are drilled for locking wire they must be wired, if they are not drilled then your ok
