Re: Windscreen centre stay

Hi
my first time on this site, what i'd like to know is would I be causing any problems fixing a bottom centre bracket if the scuttle shakes too much ? I mean would I be putting too much pressure on the glass ? The car isn't on the road as yet and I might not have anything to worry about but its crossed my mind so I thought i'd ask.
The car isn't a cobra by the way its a haldane 100 Healey replica, the two end posts are solid but when the glass is in place I can move it in the centre and thats what bothers me, any advice will be welcome

thanks in advance
Roy

Re: Windscreen centre stay

hi

instead of just bolting it all up a better solution i feel would be to use a spring in between the nuts ,using this to press down on the tensioning wire so the spring makes the assembley adjustable rather than just bolt it together and guess...at least you can exert a more consistent tension (the spring will adjust to cope with stresses and release the exxtra bit when the 'heat is off')ie if the hood billows out the tensioner gives but still limits the extent it can move ...less risk of any 'tension' building up in the glass with
sumer heat etc....just a thought??

Re: Windscreen centre stay

Hi Neil

thanks for that one it sounds like a good idea to me, I'll be making my own
centre stay so I'll incorporate the springs when I do it.

Regards Roy
