Windscreen centre stay

Spent all day in the garage tinkering and cleaning the cobra meticulously. After tightening a few things up I also noticed the windscreen had become loose on its mounts and that at high speeds its rubbing the centre of the scuttle. I have seen a few cobras with a stay in the middle that hooks on the top of the screen and bolts down behind the interior mirror.

Any ideas where I can get one of these preferably chrome or stainless so that I can minimise the vibration and movement.

Thanks in advance

Anthony

Hi Anthony

Do you realise that you will have to take you screen out to fit one. :thumb:

Picture shows the reason

P.S must clean there, never noticed it till now

Hi Anthony

Here is a picture of the Dax item.

Hooks over the top of the screen then bolts through the scuttle. I used it as somewhere to mount the mirror.

Re: Windscreen centre stay

Hi Mike,
Where did you get the lower bracket from (screen to scuttle) for your centre stay? GD have only supplied me with the upper bracket (stay to screen).
Is it necessary to have the stay fixed to the scuttle? or can I make do with the centre stay fixed between the screen frame?...the screws that have been supplied are very small and would probably not be long enough to go through 2 brackets and have enough thread to fix to the screen.
many thanks
Phil

Hi Phil

Got the complete lot from Brasscraft, personally I would go for the fitting that goes on the scuttle if you are using a hood, there is a hell of a build up of pressure inside which will tend to lift the frame of the top of the windscreen. if you are not fitting a hood, I suppose the stay between both frames will do.

Re: Windscreen centre stay

Thanks Mike,

Centre angle bracket and longer screws ordered from brasscraft (01252782702). total cost £11.75 ...oh well better safe than sorry!

If anyone else is stuck the 2 brackets are known as the "centre stay bracket" (upper bracket connecting stay to screen) and the "centre angle bracket" (lower bracket connecting screen to scuttle).

thanks again
Phil
