Clutch HELP!

Hi,

We're in the process of trying to fit a cable operated clutch to our RV8 with an SD1 gearbox. Could anyone with the same setup please show me a few pictures showing how to do this as I have no idea!

Thanks in advance

John

Re: Clutch HELP!

Jeff, I've been trawling through the other threads, the drawing you did is perfect! I'll attempt the clutch tomorrow.

Thanks again for your help, I'll let you know how it goes!

Re: Clutch HELP!

Your diagram was excellent Jeff, thanks again! We had a slight problem in that the clutch release mechanism had fallen apart inside the bellhousing so we had to remove the gearbox! At least it made it easier to work on.

I have one final question! The clutch release arm already has a hole big enough for the inner cable to fit through, but small enough so that the outside part doesn't fit through. Pilgrim told us to fit a washer to part of the cable to prevent it from forcing its way through as it's made from plastic. I was just wondering if I have the washer in the correct place?

I've attached a picture to show where I have it at the moment.

Thanks,

John

Re: Clutch HELP!

thats how mine is done, but I used a very thick washer as there is a lot of pressure on the outer cable.

If the gearbox is still out check that the springs on the clutch arm are good as it should grip quiet tight and should not fall off

Re: Clutch HELP!

I'll check that out tomorrow. Good point about the washer, I'll get a thicker one or use two.

Cheers again for all of the help jeff.
