Sierra steering column surround

Hi,

We are going to cover the black Sierra steering column surround with leather to make it look a bit nicer. Unfortunately the manual is a little vague on how short this should be. The body is arriving today (wooo!) but as we won't be able to fit it for a while I was wondering if anyone could tell me approximately how short the original Sierra part should be cut to? I'm using the part from a J reg Sierra 2.0 DOHC.

Thanks in advance,

John

Re: Sierra steering column surround

Hi, with regard to covering the surround with leather, my advice would be DONT DO IT!!!!! unless you are an expert trimmer. Mine was covered by the previous owner, what a mess. At the end of the day you will still have a line where the two parts meet.

If you decide to do it good luck. I would really think carefully about it though.

regards
Garry

Re: Sierra steering column surround

Garry,

I should have said in my previous post, I'm having it trimmed by professionals! I thought the same as you so I'm using Richfield seats to trim it. They are doing the dash and door cards too.

Garry, just being nosy but can you tell what sort of price to expect from Richfield for trimming the dash & door cards as I'm in a similar position myself?

I primed and sprayed the column shroud the same colour as my car, looks lots better than just black, a lot easier that leather too :thumb:

John, I think you got me mixed up with Garry, I'm John! It's all a bit confusing!

We're now planning on getting seats from Richfield. I'm going down there next week and will let you know what sort of price they are charging.

Re: Sierra steering column surround

JOHN, appologies for that, I've already priced the seats but just wanted a ball park figure for what they charge for door cards and the dash?
