Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

Can anyone tell me what model/make application of fan belt I need, RV8 (SD1) with Pilgrim alternator bracket, I have measured it (1030 x 9.5mm) but Halfords can't cope with that. They didn't have one that size in stock and I don't know what to order. I asked Pilgrim but they didn't seem to know!!?? Unfortunately there is no other decent motor factor nearby.

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

This may be long winded but the way i did it was buy a selection of belts from Halfords of different thicknesses (a,b,c suffix etc) and lengths and tried them till i found one that fitted then returned the others for money back (i did tell tell them first what i was doing and they were happy to refund as long as i kept my reciept). There doesn't seem to be a standard size belt that fits all pilgrim/RV8 for some reason. HTH :thumb:

This link will give you the standard width letter for v-belts....

http://www.engineersedge.com/xbelt_size.htm

A piece of string and tape measure will give you the length.

Or try this...

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

The answer is not to go to Halfords. Find your local motor factors who will sell you one by length. Pilgrim recommend 1100mm, but I have found that doesn't leave much room left in the slot on the bracket to further tighten it once it's run in.

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

Choose a local independent motor factor and buy by the length its printed on the packet - ignore the make/model that its made for I'll see if Ican remeber the name of where i got mine from but its something like Classic Spares on Southwell Road Mansfield Notts and he has a web site and deals on e-bay :thumb:

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

Mine came from Halfords and I had the same problem. I changed it twice till I got the right size. It is written on it, but deep in the works now.

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

Thanks for all that, unfortunately we don't have a local motor factors in the vicinity (40 miles at a guess) and Halfords stock was pants, I really need an application to order one or a web site for a supplier .....

Re: Pilgrim/RV8 Fan Belt

Try VS1050 as the code for the fanbelt. That was what fitted my old Sumo with RV8 and pilgrim alternator bracket as per yours.

Should be able to use that code at Halfords or most any Motor Factors with success.
