| Bonnet fitment Hi all, Finally got round to trimming and fitting the bonnet last weekend. I followed Pilgrim's instructions and trimmed the bonnet edges flush and then drilled and fitted the hinges. My question is how exactly is this supposed to be aligned on the body? At the moment I've adjusted the hinges so I've got the bonnet as flush as possible with the body at the front and an even gap along the front and sides, however there's a slight gap under the edge of the bonnet where you can see into the engine bay. Is this right?

| Re: Bonnet fitment I dont know how big your 'slight gap' is, but the fit on mine isnt perfect along 1 of the side edges. One slight issue is that you may need to adjust it to ensure it doesnt clip the front lip on the body when you open it up - front of the bonnet may need raising slightly using the bonnet hinge backet. | Re: Bonnet fitment Im afraid to say its another standard Pilgrim supplied fault. When the latest mould was made for the bonnets it was done to quick. As the mould was made in layers and like I said to quickly the heat generation warped the mould and if its anything like mine the result is a slight hump along the drivers side edge on a RHD car of course. | Re: Bonnet fitment The fit on my bonnet is OK yes a slight bulge on the OS but I used D section sponge as supplied by Pilgrim ( I bought a lot more from Woollies) but have fitted it all the way around the bonnet, except the front where it peeled off when I opened the bonnet. Will fit more sponge here but attach to body sheel. The D sponge fills the gaps and I can no longer see into the engine bay. This is a lot easier than trying to modify the bonnnet. and is a trick used by most production cars. Have a look around any car park and most shut lines have rubber fillers. |
