Sumo carpet templates?

Hi

I'm new to this forum and to building my sumo, so have been reading this forum with great interest (its Brilliant!!!)

I have read there are some sumo carpet templates in circulation. Would it be possible to borrow them when the next person has finished?

Cheers

Mark

Re: Sumo carpet templates?

I don't have the circulating templates, as I did my own, but I can offer a contribution - mine took just under 8 metres of Woolies "classic" carpet type 360, 42" wide, including the boot but not the cabin body rear.
I made my templates with lots of brown paper then over-cut the carpet and reduced carefully to size. Worked well, but took a long time. The carpets down the sides are held in by heavy duty velcro.

Re: Sumo carpet templates?

Oh - and I didn't bind the edges of mine because it seems fine without, but a very irritating thing with this particular carpet is that part of the backing is white - which only becomes visible when you cut the carpet. Stupid way of making a black carpet! Still, a few dabs with matt black paint - hider of all evil problems - sorted it, and I'm pretty pleased with it now (and I'm the person who's thrown away five dashboard designs so far).

Re: Sumo carpet templates?

Hi,
I had the templates for some time but sent them on to another chap.
If you;'re desparate, I'l try and find out who.
To be honset I only used them as a guide, then went my own way, and was pleased with the result. Your're welcome to come round if youre in the south and take your own templates of my carpet - I designed it to be removeable anyway (except for Tx tunnel). Goit most of my edges bound - does make it look professional.
I would use 9m if I were you - I botched up a few sections and had to recut them, partly because I decided on my own design in some areas.

Kevin

Re: Sumo carpet templates?

Hi Kevin

I am not desparate for the templates moment as I suspected someone might be using them, so I thought I would put an early request in before I got desparate.

so i'll wait for the moment and see if I can get hold of them (if its ok I'll get back to you though, if I get desparate)

Cheers
