Inner sill pictures

Does any one have any images of the inner sills fitted to the body work,

I am not sure as to should I trim part of the body work off in the door area, in order to allow a rubber seal to be fitted, as the whole area looks miles out of shape, and I do not want to weaken the body work.

The sills will need trimming but i do not want to cut the body and find the sill wont fit!!

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Regards

Steve

Re: Inner sill pictures

Steve,
You have to trim the sills to fit between the chassis and body.If I remember correctly you have to trim them at the front and back to get them to fit and then trim the top around the door opening once there all bonded into place. Also you might find you'll have to sand down the inner door edge where it meets the sill so that when it is all bonded together it isn't to thick, otherwise your door rubber wont fit.

Re: Inner sill pictures

Another way of doing it if I have understood the area you are looking at is touse some alloy sheet cut out to fit the area immediately around the door. Leave the asheet 10 mm proud of the door reveal and self tap the sheet to the tub. You then carpet the aluminium to a point where when you apply the door seal it snugs down to the carpet. Certainly on the Dax, it lines the rubber seal to form a perfect seal with the trim.

Posted a picture and hope it makes sense

Hera are a couple of pictures of my Mk II. You certainly have to trim the inner sills to fit the doorway. The finished edge should be flush with the doorway and the rubber trim will sit over both edges once they have been joined. I bonded mine together with sikaflex type stuff but you could of course use resin or any other method. Hope this helps:thumb:

Re: Inner sill pictures

agree with previous replies.
However, I cut my inner sills short s, so that the mounting bolts for the door hinges were not sealed in. I then bent some ali and coverd with foam and vynil to friction fit in the section where the door and screen mounts. Looks nice, and makes dissassembly a lot easier - as I just found when fitting as tonneau (had to take the screen off again).

Re: Inner sill pictures

Many thanks for the information, and pictures, I was wondering about access to the door hinge bolts, so I will cut the sill down to allow access at a later date.
