Handling

The Pilgrim I bought is on Jag running gear and I just wondered whether anyone had any idea on how to set up the suspension for best roadholding.

When viewing the car the garage agreed to replace the shocks with brand new ones and as I like a fairly sporty rigid feel they set it up at the extreme end of bumpy! I've had them back the setting off twice but the car still seems VERY rigid on the road to the degree when you corner at speed it tend to "skip" across the bumps in the road and thus understeer.

Can these cars even be set up for good cornering performance?

It certainly rattles a lot over the bumps!

Andy

Re: Handling

In general, the best setup as I understand it for British roads (i.e. lumpy and potholed) is "softly sprung, strongly damped".

Getting the ride heights set up front/back, to aim for 50:50 balance if possible might help.

A good pair of tyres will also do wonders.

Some driving lessons are another good investment. Not taking the p*ss, but knowing how to alter the balance of the car to acheive tail-out happiness is quite a fine art in itself and something I'll be looking to do when I finish.

You can get these to handle quite well when set up properly and to suit you're driving style.
Spent quite a while setting mine up but it handles great.
