side pipes

hi guys,
ive got a 2.8 V6 ford engine, there is an awful exhaust system (runs underneath) which is 90% flexi exhaust!!! giving me approx 50mm ground clearance.

Ive decided to go with sidepipes. What do i need to swap from my current system to sidepipes, also, where would you recommend i get them from. Not got a bottomless pit of cash either, so price has to be a consideration!

cheers guys.

Andy

Re: side pipes

We bought some chrome sidepipes (2" in, 3" out) from an american company called Patriot. They look the biz, but not SVA friendly, but could easily be modified.
http://www.grannysspeedshop.co.uk/

They import the pipes from the states, so you don't have to worry about import duty/shipping etc.
They either cost £189 or £199 delivered (inc VAT). This price was only a tad dearer than getting them from the states yourself.

Re: side pipes

You would have to modify / replace the manifold.
It would probably be a '1 off'. So don't be suprised about the price rising rapidly.
What kit do you have, and how long ago was it built?
Cheers

Its the sierra based sumo. But like i say its got the 2.8 V6 ford engine. It may sound daft, but i thought it would be a case of cutting the existing downpipes from the manifold, then attaching the new ones... Obviously this isnt the case!!!!

Re: side pipes

Andy

As mike said I can supply sidepipes. Dependant on budget I can supply the same type of pipe in uncoated mild steel, ceramic coated or full stainless. In my opinion the best value is the ceramic coated ones. They will never corrode or tarnish. I can do these for £750 per pair or £350 per pair for the uncoated ones.

I would also be happy to discuss your requiremets regarding the fitting and adaption of the manifolds and sidepipes.

Please call me or drop me an email with any questions you may have.

Just looked at the post again and didn't notice it was a V6.

Re: side pipes

The V6 is not a problem the manifold could be made to incorporate the 4th pipe in the sidepipe or alternatively one of the pipes in the collector could be blanked.

Re: side pipes

Hi Andy
I have a Sumo/Chevy and have just replaced my sidepipes as I wanted a 4 branch to improve the gass flow.
I have the original Pilgrim supplied stainless pipes [same as a car is born...]
I'm sure Tony can provide manifolds to suit your V6 very cost effectivley.
I still need to clean one of the pipes as stainless does loose it's shine after a while, but otherwise they are in good condition.
Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you some pic's.
You can see them on my car @ www.munderhill.co.uk
