Removing the hub flange thingy (Granada based MkIII)

Hi Guys,

I would like to remove the flange from the rear stub axle, (the part that the disk butts up against, which also has the 5 bolt holes for the wheel bolts).

I've removed the big nut in the middle and can sort of move the flange a few mm on the splined shaft but then it stops. I did not build the car so I have no idea how this bit is supposed to come off.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Pete

Pete,

I assume you already have the caliper etc removed .

The actual hub itself is on splines on the driveshaft and should pull off once the above and big nut are removed.
They sometimes stick on the splines/seals/bearing so a little persuasion is often needed with a soft headed hammer to get them off.

Hi Gareth,

You assume right, I've taken the disk and caliper off. I was actually using a screw driver as a sort of wedge by tapping it between the flange and the housing that has the bearing in it. I guess I just need to "tap" it a bit harder!

Thanks for the quick response.

Cheers,

Pete.

Re: Removing the hub flange thingy (Granada based MkIII)

On a different note ...... Does anyone know the PCD measurment of the Granada 5 stud hub? I bought a rolling chasis with Ford 5 stud hub on but not sure if it's Granada or Sierra? Do they make a sierra 5 stud would that be different to a Granada?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Hub puller worked for me some time back, right tight little buggers to remove.

Hi Gary,

I reckon your right, a puller of some description is in order. I just wanted to confirm via the forum that the big nut is the only thing that holds the flange/hub thingy onto the shaft.

Thanks to everyone for your advice,

Pete.

Re: Removing the hub flange thingy (Granada based MkIII)

Thanks "gwak76" for the PCD chart.
Do you think I'm right in assuming that if it is a 5 stud Ford it is a Scoprio(New Granada) with a PCD of 112 as the sierra is only 4 stud and the Ford probe is Front wheel drive so would not be on the rolling chassis?

Thanks for your help

Nick

Granada / Scorpio is my bet, don't know of a kit that used the Probe as running gear. What chassis have you got ?

Re: Removing the hub flange thingy (Granada based MkIII)

Hi Nick,

Yup... that is a MkIII alright.....

Also, if it has 5 stud disks on the rear is is certainly Granada running gear...

All the best,
