Re: rv8 fuel pump

Facet wil be fine, but they do 'tick'.
I used the one for fast road use - call Merlin Motorsport, they'll sort you out.
For RV8, you dont ened a return pipe to the tank.

If it isn't EFi, you don't what a Facet, they are to loud, you want a Carter 72 GPH free flow 4-6 psi or they do a 100 GPH 6-8 psi and they are cheaper than Facet.

Both available from Real Steel. :thumb:

Re: rv8 fuel pump

not sure how load a facet is, but my Carter sounds like a lawnmower, its mounted on rubber bobbins in an attempt to quieten it down, it's just lucky we run very loud engines or the noise would be quite annoying.

Re: rv8 fuel pump

The mistake that a lot of builders make is to mount them in the boot, why not do as I did and mount it on the the chassis adjacent to the gearbox. :thumb:

Re: rv8 fuel pump

Just a thought, i'd advise to fit a second "return" fuel line now while you can, that way if you ever decide to go efi in the future then the line is already there, if not then at worse you've lost a few feet of piping hth :thumb:

Re: rv8 fuel pump

I have an RV8 in my Half built sumo. I was advised to fit a silver top facet pump. I think it was £65 or so, you can find them on Ebay. This should delivery 4-6 psi to the engine, but will be a little low on full throttle.

You can fit a red top facet pump that can deliver over 6 psi but you will need a regulator too, as too much pressure will flood the engine. It really depends on the trim of your engine and how your gonna drive the car. If you have a big carb, race cam and drive everywhere with your hair on fire then a red top pump with a regulator will be needed. Standard engine with lesiurely drives through the countryside and a silver top should be ok.

Of course this is only my opinion and no responsibilty can be taken for being wrong .

Or just fit a carter = correct pressure and supply so no leaning out of fuel on full throttle or pressure regulator required. :thumb: :thumb: :drive:

Re: rv8 fuel pump

Don't forget the check flow rate too, this is just as important as pressure and the two things are not the same.
