Sound deadening

I am thinking of putting sound deadening pads inside in various places, bulkhead, transmission tunnel, side walls, under petrol tank, etc. Has anyone bought the sound deadening pads from europa as they seem good price , and if so are they any good. Also any suggestions as to where any other places may need deadening would be appreciated.

Hi Karl,
If you have a roll hoop fitted, it is a good idea to put sound deadening between the hoop and carpet. This is the only area on my car with unwanted noise!

Sound deadening in a Cobra, ha, ha you have or should have side pipes 2 foot from your right ear, you ain't going to hear much else.

Regarding Clive's advice, sound deadening between the roll hoops on a Sumo doesn't really do much as the diff isn't mounted directly to the chassis as it is on Jag based kits and therefore doesn't resinate through the hoops.

Sound deadening??

Just run without baffles, like wot I do. You can't even hear the car alarms that you'll set off.

With over 105db's you should't hear very much anyway.

Karl, if it just for a bit of comfort during longer journeys, then I would suggest ear plugs. They can cut out a lot of noise while still being able to talk at reasonable levels with your co pilot.

Bearing in mind that most of your noise comes from those big shiny things on the sides of your car, I would question the value of sound proofing other areas that cant really be heard anyway..?

Biggest issue on long (and reasonably quick) runs is wind noise, and earplugs really should be a "must".
