Brass Craft Filler Base and Cap

Hi all.
Has anyone fitted a Brass Craft filler to a pilgrim.

The neck of the cap is 56mm under the flange but I only have 35mm above the neck on the tank ?

I can't cut the cap and am reluctant to reduce the hieght of the neck on the tank to the width of a jubilee clip.......

Hi,

I had the same problem.

http://cobraclub.specialistcommuniti...ft+filler+neck

In the end I cut off the smaller bit and a friend of a friend with a lathe reduced the size of the fat bit at the top to the same size as the neck at the top of the tank.

It's ali so it machined very easily.
You might want to call Chris at Brasscraft, he may have an easier solution but he should also know he's supplying bits that don't fit.

I think StuJ has managed to get it on using another technique. I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

cheers

Graham

The problem I had was similar to Grahams, yes the cap neck was too long and had 2 sizes to choose from, so I chopped off the smaller end of the neck (51mm I think) and put my 54mm inside bore fuel pipe over the larger size. But because the pilgrim tank neck was smaller still, I had the jubilee clip close the 4mm gap to make a nice fit all round. Looking from up top into the tank you can see the fuel pipe closing to make a good seal.

Yep, cut my aero just the same, brave first cut, but used the jubilee clip to take up the difference in OD.

Ok, cheers all. I cut the cap yesterday afternoon, gonna fit it tonight.

Word of advise to future builders that might see this, if you're building a Sumo and intend using one of these superior (SVA) fuel caps, ask the guys at Pilgrim if they'll fit a 2.25 inch filler neck on your tank when you order it.

This should mean that the two diameters that foul sit inside each other and you can use the wider (common) diameters and a 57mm ID fuel pipe with no need for the hacksaw.
