The cross member between the front chassis which has the steering rack mounted its different either side so that geometry can't be right.

Assuming however the chassis IS supposed to be like that why would you need to achieve different calculations in order to get the steering and suspension set when the welds are clearly different?
Hi Stu
I can understand your concern, it seems that if all the measurements are different, then there is no apparrent datum point from which to determine any alterations/allowances to be made.
I wish I was qualified to help, perhaps the critical dimension should be on a technical drawing that Pilgrim should be able to provide... presumably at some stage in the design procccess, these ponts would have been determined (with calculations etc)... or at least the Jig dimensions.
I think we have all done some modifications to the steering, and it seems like we rely on the experience of others to go by, rather than adhere to an exact set of geometric criteria & dimensions, as should be supplied by the manufacturer.
Keep us posted anyway
good luck

Hi Rowly, as you suggested it is all probably in their calculations but find it funny how either side are different measurements from wishbone to uprights , perhaps I have a rogue chassis, that is the only constructive solution I can think of.

Anyone from pilgrim reading ?????

Asymmetry

- everything is asymmetric on these cars, as were the originals. we can argue about how much asymmetry is tolerable, but they are ALL like it, sumoes and non-sumoes (except maybe the kirkham).

Assymetry

I take your point Kevin, about all models not being precise, but it would have been nice to have a set of geometrical, symetrical datum points from which to work, in order to obtain acceptable results. Perhaps from the original drawings, or even notes from the original guesswork would have helped!!!!
Symetry is an interesting subject though!
In Nature, An apparrently symetrical snowflake, at a molecular level would look like a jumble sale. Even the human body, roughly symetrical (left to right), but organs like the heart & liver are offset...... and actually....all adult males have the left testicle hanging lower than the right one!!!
(maybe I should have specified this when I was ordering my Sumo seats!)
No.. really, this is true!, generally if this is not the case, then some organ "reversal" has occurred, which if severe (arterial plumbing etc), can result in a newborn not surviving.
(I think i'll stick to trying to put kits cars together)
