RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

ah, that would be have been me, and yes it was months - sorry to whom ever I said would have them. Due to a house move the build has boxed up before I was able to complete my carpets. I have been informed that our 'chain' is likely to take a few more months until completion so I have cracked the cases open and hope to be finished with the templates real soon.

I have however finished with the boot templates and am able to send them to a new home???

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

Dan,
I'll hang on till you've finished as I don't need them for a couple of months or so. My boots going to end up a funny shape as I'm panelling it in.

Cheers
Adrian

That's what I have done too Hence the reason I don't need the boot templates. I should be finished with the cabin templates after the weekend.

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

Hi Dan, it was also me that was after these as well. Don't need boot carpet template as well, as I;ve actually made a 3 piece ply floor with underfelt - wanted cleaner lines in the boot rather than laying carpet over the ridge round the body shell.

Whenever you're done with them I'd like to take templates even if I'm not quite ready. I'm on a mission now to get the damned thing finished by end of the summer. Found out at xmas i;m going to be a Dad in August and everyones telling me that there will be no time at all for garage tinkering with a new baby (hmmm we'll see).

Let me know, I'm happy to get these templates sorted promptly and send on to next recipient.

cheers,

Kevin

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

I need to re-carpet my Sumo and was going to go down the off the peg option from Pilgrim but having seen some very good qaulity carpets off the roll at this weekends show I fancy the DIY route - what do you guys plan to do about getting the edges and the fold lines trimmed, are there people out there who do this type of thing at reasonable cost ? (what kind of cost do is "normal" for a good quality DIY carpet)

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

Mike,
I've had one of our local carpet shops run edging round some bits of carpet to make rugs before now, never cost more than a tenner each.

Ask at your local shop, I'm sure if you tell them what your doing they'll sort you out.

Cheers

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

Finally finished with the Sumo Carpet templates so No longer need them, so they are free to a good home, Just send me the address. I know there were a number of people who were interested in receiving them, So I don't know what the fairest way of sending them on is - So they will be sent to the first address I receive

The templates are made from a non stretch plastic material that were taken from Tony's Pilgrim supplied set of carpets before he fitted them in to his car. I have found that the resultant carpet that I have cut required slight trimming - I have however fitted a 1/2" backing felt which made a difference. I used an 8m x 1m roll of carpet from woolies and was able to lay the templates out on top of the carpet to get best possible use. I have found 8M to be plenty for both the cabin and boot area.

I am getting the edges bound so will be ready by the weekend. You can save money by going the DIY route but it does take a while to get right and you only have yourself to blame if it goes wrong...

I am not going to Stonleigh this weekend but will be going to Elvington - hopefully in the car if I can get the SVA booked.

RE: Sumo Carpet Templates

Kevin, can I form an orderly queue behind you? (I've got a feeling this will be a very long queue).

I'll send you an email off the forum with my address and am happy to pay postage and continue the "pass it on" routine.

Cheers and well done Dan !!!!!

David
