Pilgrim Sumo MK3

Thanks to everyone on this site who has helped so far but it would appear that after a very long conversation with Tony at pilgrim today i am no further to finding a solution to the 302 engine and box fitting correctly.
I have to say that at preasant i am extremly dissapointed in the response that i got from tony today even though they advertise that thier kits will accept a variety of engines and gearboxes.
The point is here that to fit this engine as pilgrim would, requires different engine mounts than the ones that i have but they are completley unable to either sell me these mounts or tell me what they are from or where i can get them.
Ive spoken to a number of companies today and they do not know what this mount is from.Pilgrim cars have had about 5 grand off of me so far and yet cannot tell me what parts i need to fit THIER car.If i told people that in my buisness i,d be out of work in a week.I would be intrested to know if anyone else has had similar problems with them as i am not impressed with thier service at preasant even to the point of considering selling the whole thing and going to a company that is intrested in the people that buy thier cars.i dread to think what other problems may lie ahead that they have conviently forgot to tell me about.x( x( x( x(

RE: Pilgrim Sumo MK3

Not quite sure whether you mean that the mounts you have, were supplied by Pilgrim to fit the 302 engine or whether you are trying to find suitable mounts and Pilgrim cannot assist you.

I have always found Tony helpful if not energetic !

It could be that you are trying to install an engine that they do not have any designs for. Therefore, you may have to try getting your own made up.

At least the engine mount to chassis location is quite flat so you should able to come up with something.

It is unfortunate that you are having problems but no supplier can supply everything for everyone and this is all part of building your own indivdual car.

Keep the faith.

RE: Pilgrim Sumo MK3

The point is here that thier spec sheets and build manuel quite clearly state that this is a engine and box option that they have fitted but they seem totaly unable to assist in the problems/questions that i am trying to overcome.i appreciate that they cannot supply everthing but i would expect that they should be able to either supply or tell you where you can obtain the correct parts from especially when its an engine option that they themselves offer in either a kit or turn key car supplied by them.if i asked them to build me a turn key car with this engine option what would they do phone me and tell me they dont know how to do it.not very proffesional is it.if you bought a dax or gd i doubt very much if they would give this sort of advice.
i suppose its the same old story you get what you pay for and in this instance not a lot.

RE: Pilgrim Sumo MK3

Gareth,

I really can't understand what your problem is, because the bottom part of the 302 mounting that Pilgram supplies does fit with the top part of the mounting you can buy from Real Steel (if you don't have the correct mountings), for a 302 motor.

And if you watch the Pilgrim Video (by Mark Evans) you can clearly see how the gearbox mounting is fitted. There is no clearer way of showing this.

I have never had any problems with Pilgram. Tony has always gone out of his way to be as helpful as possible.

Kallie
