RV8 engine mounts

All,

the RV8 engine lower mounts, (chassis to rubber bush), seem to be "handed" I was wondering which goes where? Also which hole does the bush locate in?

Thanks,

Dave.

RE: RV8 engine mounts

Dave,
I don't remember the mounts being handed unless they've changed recently, if they are can you post a pic.

The old mounts were really akward to fit and get the engine low enough in the body, I had at least three goes before settling on which holes to use and even then I raised the engine back up to give a bit more ground clearance.

I can't see which hole I used for the bush to engine mount but I'd start with the middle hole. I used the third hole back (from the front) to give enough clearance for the pulley to chassis to get the fan belt on and off.

I'm sure that every one probably found it akward, we bolted all the brackets loosely to the engine and gently lowered it until we could bolt them to the chassis.

Don't know if that helps any.

Cheers

RE: RV8 engine mounts

Dave,

I don't believe that the engine mounts are sided as you should be able to place on either side. The below link points to a previous discussion re the engine position...

Thanks for that Dan.

Stupid question, but how do I access the archives? That way I wouldn't be posting questions that have already been delt with?

New fangle computer thingies!
