New Construction Manual Well it arriver this morning, the "new" manual. I'll reserve judgment until I had time to read it through. As I've just "sorted" the clutch the first thing I looked for was to see if any aditional information had been included on that subject and surprise suprise I find that the new manual states that "a new 50mm dia. quadrant, Ford part No 6183029, should be fitted to the clutch pedal". This is the first reference to this I have seen. Nothing about this has apeared in any info. that I have received from Pilgrim. Can anyone shed any light on this, is it necessary. I would have been a lot easier to fit before the pedal box was fitted. Dave

RE: New Construction Manual I fitted one of these at xmas - its not too difficult to do even with the bodytub and doors on place. The new quadrant which is white, instead iof yellow or red, bascially as a wider 'cam' which the cable inner winds round, and this helps take up some of the slack on the cable. Costs about a tenner from Dagen'm Mote-ors. Kevin

RE: New Construction Manual I fitted one in to mine as it was the only thing that seemed to cure the problem of clutch drag. Couldn't change gear otherwise. Oh, and as Kev says, doddle to fit! Cheers, Tony B --- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.breski

RE: New Construction Manual Although the manual references the new cam for the Rover variant I wonder if this is a requirement for my Chevy install. I am installing the clutch conversion as well... Brian

| RE: New Construction Manual I too also fitted a new one (During a lunch break which took no more than 30 minutes to remove the pedal box and fit) - believe it was black plastic (It was a non-ford part though). However I didn't refit due to any comments made by Pilgrim - just the fact the self adjuster teeth were knackered. It was slightl larger and did make a difference to the biting point of the clutch... | RE: New Construction Manual Just to add that the genuine Ford replacement clutch cam part is white. I know that there are pattern part alernatives available, guess thats what Dan had. |
