Storing the hood....... Seeking wisdom on hood storage.... Having just fitted and glued said hood it doesn't seem to fold too easily for storage in the boot. I am a new owner...and confused about whether I risk damaging the flimsy material between the two hood bows to fold the thing in half to squeeze it into boot. Is there a better way of carrying the hood when touring? Should I just fold it? The hood frame at least seems logical.....pull-it apart and it'll pack away nicely. While I have your ear......what is the best method for fixing the studs on the straps that link the hood frame and roll-bar. Will a long length rivet not make a mess of the stud...? I scoured the (new) build manual for clues.....it doesn't even mention the straps! Thank you in advance. All suggestions appreciated. Geoff.

RE: Storing the hood....... Just fitted my hood recently and asked Pilgrim what the straps were for. They said they never use them, so I threw mine away. Having used the roof I would say that you do not need them. As for storing the roof - folded in the boot hasn't done it any harm. None of the glued edges have come off yet, but it's early days for me. Tony B --- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.breski

RE: Storing the hood....... Thanks for the reply. Have taken your advice and folded it for the boot. Rather concerned though that it doesn't seem designed for too much usage. Needless to say it'll probably leak when it actually sees some rain! geoff.

RE: Storing the hood....... My car lives outside so my sort top goes up and down like a fiddlers elbow. It was new a year ago and the gap between the hood brows is worn out and split from folding already, I now have an unsightly patch over the area. Do not fold the hood, its only a matter of time before its knackered. (my hood is made of everflex) Nick B
