chepaskate wheels question from a poor pilgrim

Don't laugh but can anyone advise if it is possible/practical to fit standard 17" x 7 wheels all round on a SUMO III ? I know that the rears should be 17" x 8 but could I get away with using 7's at the rear and would I need spacers to pad out the arches ?

Reason i ask is my local ford dealer has a clearance line of Alloys with the correct fitment (sierra) at £49 each inc VAT - Brand New !, whats more there not a million miles away from the look of a halibrand (if viewed on a foggy day)

Sensible replies appreciated !

Thanks
Dave

RE: cheapskate wheels question from a poor pilgrim

Hi Dave,

I think its important to get the correct offset for the rims for the designed suspension set up. This may not be the case with standard ford wheels. Many different tyres fit 7"rims, I seem to recall 235's fit which is what Pilgrim recommend on the rear anyway.

Have a look on this site - http://www.performancealloys.com/index1.htm

Norm.

Oh well, done it again!
