Engine vin numbers I have fitted the engine to my car and all is fine. I am a little sceptical in hopw i prove its age will the DVLA do this for me??? The engine was taken from a ford granada, the enigine is a rover lump. The log books have all been changed and the ford shows the rovers engine number. I see some people have written to some heritage company who can prove the engine age who are they and how do you contact them??? Any help would be great Thanks Daniel

RE: Engine vin numbers Daniel, You need to provide a list of engine numbers/year of manufacture from a reputable source. When I did my SVA last October I printed the list from this very reputable web site and the examiner was happy with that, It's probably worth phoning the test centre to confirm what they would like just to be on the safe side. If they won't take the list from the club then you could use the one from Rimmer Bros as they do a printed list inside their Rover V8 Engine catalogue. You would probably only need to go to the heritage company if you have one of the few obscure engine numbers that is not easy to tie to particular year. HTH Jim

RE: Engine vin numbers I also printed the engine list from this website and it was excepted (Somewhat reluctently by the inspector who had to phone head office for instructions). that list is you havn't found it is @ http://www.cobra-replica.co.uk/html/cobra_7.shtml Even better - is you have the snaketorque that features episode 10 of Bob's Sumo build - the details found on the link above are reproduced in print. The Heritage center can indeed provide a letter stating the year of manufacture - but only for Rover cars - Range rovers and the like are a different firm. I'm sorry but I don't have the details to hand - a search though the forum archives may prove fruitful. Dan ~ http://homepage.ntlworld.com/danny.mann/
