Set Up And Handling

Hi everyone, Just wanted to know if anyone could recommend somebody in the Buckinghamshire area who has a clue about the set up of my Sumo. Only 3 months old from Pilgrim but the handling is far from great, has Granada running Gear with Spax shock absorbers may need replacing ?, Huge cambers on rear apparently there's no alteration on Granada rear axles? Can anybody recommend someone for these alterations?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Set Up And Handling

There are three holes on the outer suspension fixing point, and two on the inner, raise or lower the suspension arm to obtain the camber you are after.

Re: Set Up And Handling

Welcome to the Sumo shortcommings.

You can improve the handling with only little adjustments, ie not too much work. But you'd need to cut in your chassis .

There's a thread that talks about it.

Re: Set Up And Handling

Hi William

My advise for what it is worth is to get the car professionally set up. The adjustments needed can only be done with specialist equipment. Camber is only part of the equation.

I could recommend a company for the Job but unfortunately they are probably 250 miles away from you

Why not discuss your problems directly with Tony holmes as he may have a few ideas on how to solve your problems,

Best of luck

Dave

Re: Set Up And Handling

Hello William,

I am in Hazlemere and I have been using Charles Dunn Motor Engineers for years.

Charlie has built my engine and done all the suspension and steering work on my Cobra. He is based in Wooburn Green and you can contact him on 01628 528338.

Highly recommended !

Regards,
Simon.

Re: Set Up And Handling

Have a look at the link below, it's not quite the kind of car you have but it does give very clear info as to what each term refers to with regard setting up suspension. Even if you have it set up by someone else you will know what they are talking about(if you do know dont take this as an insult )
