Sumo Clutch

Hi Guys
I've been reading some of the posts about setting up the clutch cable on a rv8 conversion, and found the adaptor kit from the V8Tuner interesting. Unfortunately they can no longer supply it. Does anyone know of an alternative supplier? Or would I be better off looking at doing a hydraulic conversion, if so could anyone suggest a supplier for these items. Last option is to do as Pilgrim suggest and drill the fork and bellhousing, but from what i've read it sounds like this gives you a heavy pedal, is this true ?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Cheers Stu

Re: Sumo Clutch

Yes , the Pilgrim solution is not perfect and does give quite a heavy pedal, but not impossible.

I am surprised the V8Tuner system is no longer available, but Magnum Engineering do an exchange pedal box system.

I don't know their contact details but they are in the Worcester area and will have a web site.

Re: Sumo Clutch

Magnum charge £150. If you send them a sierra pedal box they will send you:

Your Sierra box adapted with:
Girling master
Remote resevoir
Brackets
Aeroquip hose
etc

Havne't tested yet as not got a prop shaft or fluid in the brakes

Good service though

Re: Sumo Clutch

Thanks for the replies
Is the Magnum conversion an easy job to fit space wise?
I'm doing a conversion on a mk2 and don't relish the idea of laying upside down in the footwell too much. How much heavier is the pedal if I just went for the Pilgrim cable idea? And how difficult is the cable fit and adjust, it almost sounds as if every car is different?
Any thoughts are gratefully received.
Cheers Stu

Re: Sumo Clutch

Space isn't a problem on the MkIII - you have some juggling to do with an extra crossmember that I don't think is present on the MkII. Therefore you shouldn't have any problems. As for vs cable clutch can't say as I haven't tested side by side. All the reports I have received suggest a vast improvement

Good luck

Brian

Re: Sumo Clutch

Thanks for the input Brian, I went to the Thames Valley meet yesterday and tried a pedal in a car with a cable clutch, this made my mind up for me and I'm contacting Magnum today to see when they can do a kit for me.

Re: Sumo Clutch

Magnum should be able to turn round in a week. The only problem I face is where to put the external fluid reservoir. Any ideas? Must be SVA compliant

Hope to catch up with you at some point when I make to a Thames Valley meet

Re: Sumo Clutch

Brian
Luckily I don't have to worry about being SVA compliant, mine was registered about 8 years ago. Hopefully I'll go upto Magnum saturday and have a look at the kit and see what goes where.
I won't be at the next TV meet ( removing V6), but they were talking about a show on September 5th on the Swallowfield bypass which I shall try to get to.
