| Tyre widths Talking to Cheng at Thunder Road, he mentioned the widest wheels which fit are 9 inches back and 7 inches front. I had thought Dax were the same body but fit 10 on back and 9 front. Is their axle shorter? Could you lucky finished car owners tell me the width of your wheels and are tyres available for all suitable sizes? Cheers Ed PS Is there a recognised best medium for ride/handling etc? I'd like to go WIDE!! if poss.:-}

| Re: Tyre widths I dont really see how you are limited to only 7" fronts and 9.5" 15" rear rims, surely it would depend on what type of rim you are using and if it is a three piece rim, as you can go inwards quite a bit, of course the wider front rim this may affect the steering lock, but most Cobras have more than enough so some steering stops are easy to fit to the rack! Regarding the rear rims the diagonal brace, from the upper rear suspension structure to the outrigger that supports the body, that does restrict the rim width, but it can be easily altered to allow for big rims, Ive got the view why put 675bhp through a piddly 9.5" tyre My Compomotives are 17" x 12" rear, 17" x 10" front, I will only be using a 25.6" diameter tyre, so not the big 26.3" diameter 15" that are sometimes used! I agree with Cheng the basic car using standard Jaguar components is best left using the sizes he recommended 7" and 9.5" width rims, there are other issues with the front hubs that restrict the front outer rim to bodywork as well, we are going to make custom hubs and move the hub face inwards 1-1/4" this allows for a normal looking Cobra wheel plus reduces the scrub steer. Having said all that it looks good on paper, my rims are now being made in the US, and after reading this I had to zoom out to the shed to make sure I had done my measurements right!!!!!! Incidentely by buying my two sets of Compomotive wheels from the US and shipping surface mail, is half the price I can buy the wheels for both here in NZ and Australia.
