    Question Vibrating Clutch Forks

    Gents
On Tickover my clutch forks move up and down ie vertically (approx +/-3mm) , but this goes away when revs increase .
Is this just that the clutch need to bed in or is it that the gearbox or clutch is out of line ?

    any thoughts welcome.

    Cheers
    Steve

Sounds like the release bearing is off centre. In theory it should self centre.

    What engine/clutch/box is this?

It's a Chevy 350 with a Saginal 4 speed , Will need to check up on the exact clutch fitted ? but I know its not anything obscure - thats not the way I'm going !!

What I can't understand is why it does not continue to move up and down when I rev the engine ???

    regards Steve

Could just be one of those things - maybe the bearing does centre at higher speeds. I think you still need to check your block/bellhousing alignment though.

On all the setups I've seen the clutch release bearing slides on tube that projects from the front of the gearbox housing. This tube is not a rotating part and the release bearing can't move vertically anything like you mention. This only leaves the clutch forks themselves free to move as describe; maybe they are just vibrating at tickover. Have you tried grabbing hold of the clutch fork to see if it stops?
    Cheers
