Bumper spacing from body

I am fitting the front overiders to my Ram SC, Adrian supplied a kit which included theaded rod and some tube spacers at 130mm long, these are to long for the front so I assume they might be for the rear bumper?

Also with the front bumper overiders which have threads to mount the 1" tube bumper, I assume the bumper is approx 1" off the bodywork?

It doesnt really matter as long as it looks right but a bit of info would be appreciated.

Hi Antony,

When I fitted my rear bumper, the spacer tubes were incorporated into the bumpers, i.e. welded on. On the front bumpers, I just cut the tubes to length. I've set my front bumper about 1/2" from the bodywork, but I suppose you can have whatever distance you like, traditionalists my have a "correct" distance.

Just leave enough room to get your fingers in to clean behind.

Thanks Mike & Steve, I think closer is better for aesthetics and just enough room for my hand to clean makes sense!

It may be prudent to fit it a little further out so that it can be used for its purpose "a nudge bar" because if you do "nudge" something it will not dig into the paint and body (from experience)

Just a thought

Regards Lester

Just as a little aside, I fitted a skid plate to the bottom of the lower front orifice and braced it to the bars above, and back to front axle chassis work.
This has definitely saved me damage twice so far.

bitsilly,
I found the oil cooler chin scoop to low and removed a 1.25" section out of the middle, looks better now, also I have noticed the bodywork front valance height each side of scoop varies in height, with the transition to the guard more rounded shape compared to the left.

I have a lot of glasswork to do with this not so nice body.
