| new to the board hello my name is gary fraser,i live in canada but was born in nielston ,scotland and came to canada in 1967.i am building a cobra lookalike from a 1969 triumph spit mk111.it has a 347 cid ford v8,5 speed box and a 1979 corvette irs. it has stainless side pipe exhaust,11 inch disc brakes front and rear,15x7 inch rims with 225/50/15 yokahama tires.most of the frame is being replaced with 2x3 inch steel tubing.body is all steel.it has a cobra hoodscoop and seats from an ac cobra .seats are made in england and sold through sube sports in california.car should be great fun to drive with it's 450bhp and 2200 lb weight.this car is smaller than a cobra and should handle at least as well if not better than an original.i like the idea of using a steel brittish sports car as opposed to a fiberglass replica as it keeps true to carrolls idea for the car in the first place.there are lots of kit cars over here but not many hybrids like i am putting together.thanks for the post and goodluck to everyone and there builds. cheers |

| i will post some pics as soon as it starts to look like something worth looking at.not much of the spit will be left but i see that as a good thing! i will have a cobra someday if i don't love this one.my daughters name is shelby and i would like to build her one someday(maybe,if she keeps her act straight).i am trying to decide if i should flare the fenders on the triumph a few inches or keep the tires inside the stock fender wells.i'm leaning towards the flares myself.time will tell. |
