Cobra Replica Club - Newsletter

Hi,

As promised I've put together a summary of what was decided during the meetings on 3rd/4th February. The whole weekend turned out to be an excellent break with stunning sunshine on Saturday.

Our thanks go to Dorothy Cant for organising the hotel and to Tony Moulsdale for organising the grand tour of the little coastal fishing villages that we visited around the Crinan Canal area. During the time there, apart from enjoying the scenery and sunshine, we managed to thrash out what events we will be participating in this year. These were presented to the additional members who arrived at the Green Welly (although we did end up in the hotel next door).

So here is the list of events that we are planning to have an official ‘Scottish CRC’ presence at. There is quite a variety in both the type of event and location so hopefully most of you will find something that is of interest to you. Remember – if you don’t have your Cobra on the road you are still welcome to come along and take part, just let me know so I know who will/wont be exhibiting when submitting show applications.

NEXT CLUB MEETING: Sunday 11th March – Perth area.

Usual format of lunch/socializing followed by the club meeting.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are planning on attending so we have approximate numbers when considering the exact venue.

April – No club meeting.

Sunday 6th May: Show and club meeting, East Kilbride.

This is a one day show in the East Kilbride area. During the day you can take the opportunity to visit the "National Museum of Rural Life" and those entering their Cobra will receive a luncheon voucher. The May club meeting will be held at some point during the day with the exact time to be decided when we have more details.

1st - 3rd June. Isle of Bute Car Show:

This is being organized as a weekend event with Tony Moulsdale having kindly agreed to act as the point of contact as I have another commitment that weekend. There will be a chance to see some of Bute and the organizers have a variety of activities planned for participants and show visitors alike. If you would like more details please get in touch with Tony ( 01786 842090 ) asap as getting accommodation can be difficult and rooms need to be booked now.

17th June: Bo’Ness area, West Lothian.

This is a combination of a run and show which we will also use for our June club meeting. The ‘show’ is at the Bo’Ness railway museum and participants will be given tickets for a trip on the railway. I’ll pass on additional information re times in future meetings/news letters.

17th - 24th July.

The Patersons and Pozzis are heading off in their Cobras on a trip to Brugge and have extended an invite to any other club members who wish to join them on this. Bob has found a good package including the overnight ferry crossings (Rosythe-Zeebrugge return) and 3 nights hotel in Brugge for £340-£390 so if you want more details get in touch with Bob (01786 880458 ) asap as I would imagine this deal will be booked up very quickly.
No Club Meeting in July.

10th- 12th August.

Weekend trip to the Brodie Castle Car Show with club meeting on Sunday afternoon during the show. Although this is being organized as a weekend event the plan is that it will be possible for people to join in as and when they wish. Further details will follow but the provisional plan is to organize our own run on the Saturday then take part in the organized activities: run, lunch and afternoon show, on the Sunday when we will also hold our August meeting.

There was also some discussion re a trip to the Lake District and/or Skye and some suggestions re good ‘day trips’ that could be organized at short notice depending on weather etc and these will no doubt be discussed again in subsequent meetings.

Unless a specific contact is given above please let me know which of the events you are interested in participating in. The sooner I get an idea of how many people are interested the sooner I'll be able to get started on the organisation of these activities.
