Good to see Omex saved!
I've eyed those kits before - but I think I'd be buried under the patio if I used the oven in the kitchen!
I don't have experience on the RV8, but on another car of mine the gaskets like your first (that sort of metallised sandwich) failed often, but a stamped steel gasket like your last picture worked...
ADAC (the German AA) used to sell to the UK and cover older cars - I'm not sure if they still do but maybe worth a look.. brush up on your German :)
Yeah, who doesn't enjoy a tetanus booster?
The advice I've read is that oven cured paints can have PPF applied immediately because there will be no residual off-gassing from the paint, but if the paint is air-cured then recommendations vary...
Yep, Dave as well - I think the market for £80-100k turnkey cars is probably significantly bigger than the market for £50k kits.. which is a shame as a tinkerer!
I suppose we'll all be sitting...
Walked past your car today Chris - similarly we were there from 10.30 or so through till the close when the stands were shutting up shop.. had an ice cream and watched the crews taking down the signs...
I might try and get over on Monday actually - we're at my parents tomorrow, have some house stuff to sort Sunday (trying to convert our downstairs room to a bedroom so he can be here for his final...
I've seen two Cobras now while going to & from Peterborough (mostly the hospital, sadly, where my father was) - one was blue with white stripes and I'm reasonably sure I remember seeing that one...
AN comes from the US military (Army Navy, hence AN) and .. that probably explains the bat shit measuring system in "16th of an inch of hose outer diameter"
JIC fittings look almost the same...
It seems like most stuff made in China (which I assume basically everything is!) assumes the entire world drives on the right.. much like they assume all of Europe uses km/h and only the US uses mph...
I have a 750 vac secondaries on my 462FE - Clive (the engine guy) suggested that would be more than enough carb and his preference was vac secondaries to avoid bore wash.. the original 390 had a 650...
When I looked at this thread on mobile I only saw the first picture and wondered how on earth Kevin knew what the tyres were based on a small portion of tread showing
Car looks great Gary!
Hmm... I can't tell how many splines these have, but might be worth a call to a Lotus parts supplier to ask about P/no A132G6003F: https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and-accessories/A132G6003F.htm

In case you were looking for actual help

For comparison, I think it cost me about £200 to get a Range Rover Sport recovered from Northampton to Peterborough, on the back of a standard recovery wagon* with no special treatment.. that's...
Yep those are 3D printed prototypes, sized for stock heads (mid rise, I think), from the guys at Kugel Komponents .. at least they're identical to the ones they posted on Instagram.

I looked up this thread just to post this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c89egjL58dM
I started watching SuperfastMatt recently (his sense of humour works for me) and I chuckled at his reference...
Yeah, I wanted to add a size and nearly fell over  I also have a lovely old Starrett combination square set which was, I think, his fathers (or my mothers fathers), and that's ~£150 these days!...
Funny, I have a set of those that look exactly the same in a toolbox .. mine also came from my dad! I have a feeling I have a mix of imperial and metric, though, but they all have the same patina :)...
I didn't realise Top Speed were owned by CM Frost until I ordered from there recently - I used to use them when they were a little two man shop down south near work, but I guess they sold the brand...
What Chris said - I haven't worked on a 302, but other cars of a similar design, and it'll very quickly drain everything 'above' it onto your toes. I speak from soggy experience
Looks like...
Getting there, Chris! Progress is progress :)
I passed a lorry from your neck of the woods the other day and it reminded me that I was going to see if you'd be open to a visit at some point -...
This sentence makes me think that perhaps I follow you on Instagram... unless there's two of you building GT40s with identical engines (which is possible!) :)
