The interesting thing is the extended length for the spring with minimal preload is 9" so there is 1" of preload...

Also just noticed your side repeaters in earlier pictures. You might want to check they meet the visibility rules for IVA. I seem to remember they needed to protrude
I had a similar problem for IVA. I ducted back to the cockpit for the intake. just an idea if for you possible!
