Must admit that's something I've always thought about but never got around to working out. Thanks for posting.
Where does the 14.7 come from BTW?
On the GD there are angle brackets which bolt to end of the fulcrum pins front and rear, these then bolt onto the chassis which "wraps" over the diff' which also has a mount for the 4, taper seat,...
That's just taking the easy way out. And reading the manual? Is that allowed?
Must be a bit of a fraught job standing the car on its end so you can bleed the brakes!
Cheers Jim, I was changing the calipers so that didn’t matter. I do have them at the front which I think is as per XJ40 but that was just out of personal preference.
i understand the hubs are handed but does it matter which way around these go? Not even sure I knew which way they went on the XJ40 when I did mine.
By the way, something else I meant to mention that I found out recently, I'll throw it in here as it's in a similar vein.
On the Hotwire system it seems the ignition live is only needed to "wake up"...
That's the case on the Hotwire system used on my Rover, it the engine stops the ingnition pulse will disappear and then fuel will stop. That will work well in most collision situations to prevent...
How did that not result in any prosecution? Can only imagine the driver/owner was a mason or had diplomatic immunity.
Maybe but a raging infernon could have consequences for other too. Imagine the mental anguish you'd suffer if you saw a Cobra going up in flames!
And the occupants of course.
I was going to ask about that (but forgot). My car is pre SVA so not something on my raday but if it is not required then it does seem like an oversight, particularly when running a fuel injected...
Exactly where I was coming from (only better put!), I also like to keep things simple, the more items available with the potential to stop your engine the more chance you have of it stopping when you...
I'm not sure having the engine shut off due to low oil pressure is a good thing, imagine when you're cornering really hard getting a (hopefully momentary) loss of oil pressure and then engine...
Sounds simlar to the GD setup, bar bolts direct to chassis at the front and rear, just passes through the body, so does actually offer some protection.
Hi Myles.
That's exactly what I'm thinking of, thanks for the feedback and photo.
I've never got around to fitting any type of roll bar to my GD (well it's only 23 years old after-all) but thinking about it now.
At the time a built it the single, full width, bar was de-rigueur...
That looks similar to mine (apart from it's red and mine's the much better blue colour). I also had a plan to brace it simiar to yours if I had any issues. Plan A was to put a brace across the tops...
Thanks for the info'. Reason I thought early is it looks like a P6 style crank pulley, could have been replaced of course as mine has as it's quite a neat arrangement when only driving alternator...
Out of interest what it the engine from? Looks like an early block, P6 or early RR?
Is it runing later, larger port heads?
What's the spec'
Wheels make it look like a Datsun IMO and car looks a bit stetched (to me).
I was at the Petersen Automotive Museum a couple or 3 years ago and there was some kind of Cobra meet on the top roof of...
Aye, need to get mine on the Dino once I’ve sorted the ignition.
Compared to a Vitesse, I’ve got another 400cc capacity, later injection, less material in the ports better ignition (hopefully...
Isn't it just. Though it had snapped at one point.
Agreed, although the downside is you end up doing jobs you would otherwise not have done. Or is that just me?
Great photo.
