That's exactly why I don't want a pad which needs to be warmed up (and kept warm), this is a road car so can go reasonably long periods between applications, I really don't want that "will it/won't...

Cheers Jon.
Maybe i'm missing somethign but based on the EBC chart I put in the previous post I don't really see the point in the Red EBCs, they have consistently less Cf than Yellow and drop off...
Cheers Aaron. I've used a couple of different EBC compounds in the past with mixed results.
I put greenstuff on my MX-5 and they were perfectly fine although diffcult to say if they were...
Just following on from the recent "More advice on brakes"thread, it has got me thinking on how I can get greater braking effect for a given pedal input, most obvious way seems to be grippier pads,...
I run mineral fluid and have changed it several times, never had to bleed it though. Not for that reason anyhow.
Ran Silicone originally and all it did was swell the seals
It is indeed, and the kind of thing I like (would never conside a carb' these days) but just commenting on authenticity which I don't care about but probably would if I was paying top dollar. ...
I'm assuming the FI system they feed is not original either!
i think it’s always a good idea to retract slave pistons, brake or clutch, not so much to reduce the air to remove but to reduce the possibility of air getting trapped, and if you remove it it...
i use a large syringe with some plastic tube. Don’t like getting a mouthful of anything nasty.
Also worth remembering to remove some fluid from the res’, don’t leave it brimmed. As the clutch wears it will displace fluid back to the res’.
Thanks for the information Jon, that sounds like it would be worth investigating, the 22.7 is only slightly larger than standard and even 23.8 is not too much of a stretch IMO (about 4 & 13% drop in...
Wow! That actually sounds hopefull in terms of length at least, unfortunately it sounds like the diameter would be a problem although possibly not insurmountable, may be possible to offset the...
I went and did a bit of measuring in the master-cylinder area on my car.
On the GD the pedalbox is mounted to one side of the firewall with the master cylinder on the other, this is in a...
The bit that is bothering me is that in your first post you say:
"so much so that I can only lock the brakes in the wet!"
I never had a problem locking the wheels in the dry so I'd have thought...
Hi Alan
The accelerometer I used was something we had at work for measuring accelerations on machine tools, a metal box about the size of a pack of 20 but I had to link it to my laptop on the...
Interesting stuff Aaron, thanks for posting. No egg sucking required!
That looks like it's begging for a cross member between the upper shock or hub link mounts. Any plans?
3 months ago? Bit late now.
Is that a mechanical servo (acting on pedal) rather than hydraulic?
Unfortunately space is limited on the GD for a servo inline with the master cylinder. I don't think it is practical to squeeze a...
I'd sort out the softer pads first as this will be straightforward (as long as you can access the rears) and relatively cheap to do and easily reversible if it doesn't work out as you expected. ...
That's a really good question to kick off with, I'd say the biggest difference is 'no servo' as I've highlighted (presuming the OP is using the standard, Jaguar, mastercylinder which I believe is...
I was really disappointed with the brakes on mine initially, tried swapping the front callipers for some Brembo items but no help. Eventually realised that looking as the front brakes was pointless...
perhaps they didn’t break down often enough or rust away quick enough to be recognised as replicas?
Huumm, don't know. Pick on someone (or someones) least able to defend themselves should make it easy to win the case and set a legal precedent then use that to challenge everyone else.
Don't Ford...
Unfortunately I find myself in a simlar situation. Not selling yet but could be my next move if things don't improve.
